BBA Aviation gains strength as air industry recovers

11 April 2012

Aircraft services company BBA Aviation today said it was confident about its full-year results and that growth in business and general aviation flying activity had continued into the second half.

Companies that overhaul and repair planes had a weak 2009 as carriers reduced flying during the recession, but many are expecting growth to resume as air traffic shows signs of recovering.

October market data is expected to show the twelfth consecutive month of growth in business and general aviation flying activity, BBA Aviation said.

"The increase in flying activity over the last 12 months is now resulting in growth in aftermarket services and systems," said the company, which provides services such as engine repair to corporate jets and military planes.

For the year to date revenue was in line with 2009 and increased 6% on an organic basis in the four months to the end of October.

The company's shares have risen 26% in the year so far.
