Ministers today intervened in the row over London Parkrun events, calling for councils to let them begin again.

The events were due to restart on June 5, but have been postponed by organisers until late June at the earliest.

In a letter to local authorities, ministers including Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden and Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick said that the runs could, and should, now be given the green light.

Praising the benefits to Londoners’ health, they said: “in the interest of public health they should now restart.”

Do you think that Parkrun should be allowed to restart? Let us know in the comments for your chance to be featured on the ES website tomorrow.
