Hot tickets: Comedy this weekend

Our comedy critic tells you which stand-up shows to see this weekend...
Observational comedian:Sara Pascoe
30 November 2012

Mark Thomas

The political veteran gets personal in Bravo Figaro, in which he recalls his relationship with his opera-loving firebrand father. This is as close to theatre as stand-up gets, with Thomas interacting with recordings of his dad and building to a moving climax. Poignant but also very funny.

Tonight, Royal Opera House, WC2 (020 7304 4000, roh.org.uk); Tomorrow, Leicester Square Theatre, WC2 (0844 873 3433, leicestersquaretheatre.com)

Sara Pascoe – The Musical

A breakthrough show from this idiosyncratic comedian who will be familiar from sitcom roles and C4’s Stand Up for the Weekend. As the title suggests there are songs here but the most memorable moments are Pascoe’s larger-than-life anecdotes about her Essex schooldays.

Until tomorrow, Soho Theatre, W1 (020 7478 0100, sohotheatre.com)

Rob Rouse

Hobbit-lookalike Rouse has been on the brink of major success for a while and gets even closer with this show inspired by his young, demanding children. Every parent will relate to his quickfire tales of sleepless nights and whiffy nappies.

Tomorrow, Leicester Square Theatre, WC2 (0844 873 3433, leicestersquaretheatre.com)
