Peep Show's 'Jez' scrubs up to read Winnie the Pooh stories

Robert Webb ditches 'disgraceful human being' Peep Show character Jez to tell children tales
3 October 2012

Comedy star Robert Webb agreed to be the storyteller for a new TV series of Winnie the Pooh stories —because he doesn’t want people to think of him as freeloader Jeremy from Peep Show.

Webb, 40, said his daughter Esme was exactly the right age to watch Disney’s new animated series, Tales of Friendship with Winnie the Pooh, which starts on October 15. But he said he would probably have accepted the job anyway.

He said: “I’ve got two daughters. Dory is one but Esme is three which is just about the right age to be watching it.

“But if I didn’t have children I would probably want to do it anyway because it’s a nice thing to do. I’m quite keen for people not just to think of me as Jeremy, who is a disgraceful human being.”
