What would you do if someone mistakenly thought you were their blind date?

In all honesty, you’d probably explain that you’re not the person they’re trying to meet and walk away with a funny story to tell at the pub. But in rom-com land, you’d say yes and probably find a potential life partner.

So it goes in Man Up, starring Simon Pegg and Lake Bell – the pair are matched in a case of mistaken identity which the latter decides to simply go along with. What ensues is one of the funniest, warmest British rom-coms in years.

In an exclusive interview clip, the two stars explain the idea behind the film.

“It’s sort a fantasy scenario,” Bell says. “As it turns out, the universe has intervened and pushed them together.

“They go through the whole gamut of a relationship in a whole evening, but they also show all of their a) cards, and b) flaws.”

“Just because Jack finds out she’s not who she says she is doesn’t just mean they separate – they have to stay together, which is a fun ride,” says Pegg. “It’s like a microcosmic little marriage that they have.”

Man Up arrives in UK cinemas on May 29
