Return To Never Land

Return to Never Land is dodgy, at least compared with Disney's fully fledged 1953 cartoon, now updated to the Second World War with Captain Hook abducting Wendy's 12-year-old daughter, Jane, as bait for his arch-enemy, the eternally boyish Peter.

Jane isn't impressed by kids who won't grow up and even gives Tinker Bell the thumbs down instead of the restorative hand-clap. The scenes of London under the Blitz and Hook's ship sailing sky high against a bomber's moon are striking. Otherwise, the magic has worn thin. The video racks are waiting.
