Niantic has announced that starting today Pokémon GO players can enter raids remotely, as a consideration for people who are self-isolating.
With the Remote Raid Pass, trainers will be able to join Raid Battles happening nearby as soon as they begin, as long as the raid is on the Nearby Raid view or tappable on the Map View.
You just need one Remote Raid Pass to join and you'll only be able to hold a limited number of passes at a time.
The same typical Raid rules still apply, however. In the same way, 20 trainers can join the same Raid Battle, only a limited number of trainers can join with a Remote Raid Pass.
Raid Battles that you complete with a Remote Raid Pass will still count towards any raid-related research.
You can buy one Remote Raid Pass for 1 PokéCoin bundle which will be coming to the store. The passes can be bought individually at a special price of 100 PokéCoins.
Announced on the official Pokémon GO blog, the introduction of remote raiding is bringing with it some familiar faces.
Darkrai, Altered Forme Firatina and Virizion will all be appearing in five-star raids, so if you missed them at any other time now is the perfect chance to catch one.
Niantic announced when and where these Pokémon will be available to snag:
- From Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 1 pm to Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 9 pm, Darkrai will be available in five-star raids.
- From Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 1 pm to Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 9 pm, Altered Forme Giratina will be available in five-star raids.
- From Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 1pm to Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 9 pm, Virizion will be available in five-star raids.
Of course, with the Pokémon returning to the AR game, there's also a chance that any of the above could be shiny variations as well.
