Best keep an eye on boysdontcry.co for potentially the biggest album release of the week. Rumours around Frank Ocean’s long-awaited Boys Don’t Cry reached deafening levels this week following a surprise livestream in which almost nothing happened, and a report in the New York Times claiming it’s out today. The soundtrack for the new comic book movie, Suicide Squad, features as much of an all-star cast as the film. In among new recordings from the likes of Skrillex, Lil Wayne and Imagine Dragons, is the current single, Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. It has a moody video on YouTube now.

Since the last Killers album in 2012, bassist Mark Stoermer has been busy playing in Smashing Pumpkins and making his second solo album. Dark Arts, out today, includes the melencholy electronic single Spare the Ones That Weep, a worthwhile entry point.

Dreamy indie quartet Warpaint have picked up the pace a little on their new song, imaginatively entitled New Song. On YouTube now, it’s the catchy first track to be unveiled from a new album coming at the end of September.

Lowell is well on the way to joining Grimes and Purity Ring as a manufacturer of consistently excellent Canadian electropop. Her slow-burning latest, Blow the Bass, has just arrived on Soundcloud.
