Model and burlesque performer Dita Von Teese is branching out in her forties, teaming up with French producer Sébastien Tellier for a debut album due in February. You can hear her soft voice on the smooth single Rendez-vous, on YouTube now.

Neil Young is loud again on yet another album, The Visitor, out today. It sees him reuniting with young backing band Promise of the Real on songs including the bombastic, patriotic Children of Destiny, which has a flag-waving video on YouTube now.

The BBC Sound of 2018 longlist was announced this week, a handy primer of 16 new artists who are in a good position to do big things next year. The list, which includes 15-year-old Billie Eilish and this week’s multiple Grammy nominee Khalid, is on the news website along with YouTube links to a key track by each act.

Literate Boston rock band The Hold Steady are making a comeback with some New York shows imminently, so have put two new songs online for fans to memorise in time for the gigs. Entitlement Crew and A Snake In The Shower are on sale on Bandcamp this week with proceeds going to charity, and will be streaming from next week.

Influential rock band Glassjaw released their first album in 2000 and are only now releasing their third. Material Control is out today, featuring the predictably intense comeback song Shira.
