Guided by Voices will play a London gig for this first time in 16 years this summer.
The prolific lo-fi outfit will visit Village Underground on June 5, playing in support of their forthcoming double album, Zeppelin Over China.
Led by the fiercely creative frontman Robert Pollard and comprising an ever-changing line-up, Guided by Voices have released 25 official full-length albums since 1986, with scores of unofficial singles, EPs and albums in addition to that.
Their best known work, 1994’s Bee Thousand, is a scuzzy, pockmarked masterpiece, with 20 songs all recorded on four-track machines.
Guided by Voices have disbanded and reformed multiple times since their inception, with the most recent period of activity starting back in 2016. This current band line-up features two previous members — Doug Gillard on guitar and Kevin March on drums — alongside new touring musicians, bassist Mark Shue and guitarist Bobby Bare Jr.
