Mancunian rock icons The Stone Roses have announced they will play three live dates in the UK next year, including a night at Wembley Stadium.

The Fools Gold hitmakers will play Wembley on Saturday June 17 2017, with tickets set to go on sale this Friday September 30 at 9.30am.

The other dates are Tuesday June 13, at the SSE Arena in Belfast, and Saturday June 24 at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

The Roses are also among the rumoured favourites to headline Glastonbury next year.

The band, formed in 1983, led the Madchester scene of the late eighties and early nineties. Their first gig, in 1984, was supporting Pete Townshend, The Who guitarist, at an anti-heroin concert in the Railway pub in West Hampstead.

After breaking up 1996, the band got back together for a reunion tour in 2012. They’d previously been adverse to working together again, with guitarist John Squire telling The Guardian in 2002 he’d “rather remove my liver with a teaspoon” than get back with the band.
