Where can you go for laughs this week? With St Patrick's day coming up there's plenty of Irish humour, eminent satirist Mark Thomas recounts his anti-war adventures and an extremely quirky Edinburgh show comes to town.

Monday: St Patrick's Day Special

A festive green-hued line-up. Speedy Dara O'Briain is the top treat with young turk Andrew Maxwell and acid house comedian-turned-Flann O'Brien-ish playwright Michael Smiley contributing to the merriment.
Anglo-Irish wag John Moloney comperes. Comedy Store, 8pm, £12, concs £10.

Mark Thomas

A new show from the eminent satirist who spends as much time on the barricades as onstage these days. This time round he's recounting his recent anti-war adventures and homing in on his campaign against the Coca-Cola empire. A show with real fizz.
The Broadway Studio Theatre, 8pm, £10, concs £8.

Amadeus, Rick Kieswetter

A lengthy line-up that illustrates how comedy in the capital is constantly renewing itself. Amadeus is a slick performer with a nice line in pop cultural gags. Rick Kieswetter's offbeat approach might have something to do with the fact that he has Japanese roots and was brought up by a German and an Italian. Plus Jo Coffey, Larry Bernstein, James Davies, MC Phil Klein.

The Ark Bar, The Funny Bone, 8.30pm, £4, concs £3.

Thursday: Lizzie Roper

A welcome London transfer for an extremely quirky Edinburgh show from this talented comic character actor, subtitled Through My Keyhole. Roper runs through a range of creations from PVCclad slapper to toothless OAP, when not perching on the front row's laps and talking dirty.

  • Soho Theatre, 9.30pm, £10, concs £8. Until Sat 20 Mar.
