Now it's Profumo affair, the musical

The Profumo scandal, which shook the political establishment 40 years ago, is to be turned into a musical.

The show, which will feature nude romps and new theories about conspiracies and cover-ups, will centre on Christine Keeler.

She was a 19-year-old topless model and dancer, whose affair with John Profumo, the Tory War Secretary, led to his resignation in 1963 after he lied about it in Parliament.

Richard Alexander, who created the show, to be called A Model Girl, claims to have uncovered new evidence behind the scandal, The Telegraph reports today - although he refuses to disclose it before the curtain goes up.

The musical is to open in a £150,000 production at the fringe Greenwich Theatre in February, with a possible West End transfer.
