This week's comedy choice

10 April 2012

Comedy @ The Cochrane

Another fun-packed bill at this comfy monthly theatre-based club that specialises in double acts and sketch combos. Tonight's line-up includes Arnold Widdowson from Ben & Arn presenting his latest satirical creation - a spoof host - in Arnold's World of Talent. Long-necked Marcus Brigstocke teams up with his irreverent mates from BBC2's We Are History to perform under the Club Seals nom de plume. Pick of the pack are oh-so-clever duo Mitchell & Webb and cheeky twosome Susan and Janice.
Sun 24 Mar, Cochrane Theatre, Southampton Row, WC1. 020 7242 7040

John Mann, Kevin Hayes, Gina Yashere, Mark Walker

Gina Yashere is in danger of over-exposing herself on TV's I Love Top Ten programmes, but her soundbites show how witty she can be. Catch her snappy, chattier stories about growing up with a strict Nigerian mum at these strong club nights. Look out too for Mark Walker - rumour has it that he is the son of Catchphrase's Roy Walker, but let's not hold that against him.
Friday 22nd March & Saturday 23rd March, Jongleurs, 76 The Parade, High Street, Watford, Herts (0870 787 0707).

Sean Meo

One of the great unsung heroes of Nineties comedy, Meo could have been a top snooker player, but swapped cues for punchlines - specialising in razorwire-sharp observational gags about everyday life. Most comics only do full-length gigs in the run-up to Edinburgh, but this seasoned pro - the ultimate uber-Edinburgh comic - will be doing the whole 90 minutes here.
Thursday 28th March, Comedy Bunker, Ruislip Golf Centre, (020 8421 1141)

Mark Thomas

He always was a barnstorming comic with a conscience, but these days Mark thomas is better known for his militant campaigning on C4 than his stan-up style. In his time he has upset MPs, the MOD and countless bureaucrats, but here he will be cheering up his fans with an all-new in-your-face set.
Friday 22nd March, Latchmere Theatre, 503 Battersea Park Road, SW11 (020 7978 7040).
