The BBC has revealed a brand new Doctor Who logo to mark Jodie Whittaker’s forthcoming turn in the tardis.
Whittaker debuted the new-look redesign at the BBC Worldwide showcase on Tuesday, ahead of the eagerly-awaited new series of the hit sci-fi show.
A sleek new gold insignia replaces the iconic Doctor Who lettering, marking a brand new direction for the franchise.
“The Doctor Who logo and insignia are the quintessential signifier for the brand,” said BBC Worldwide Executive Creative Director, Rafaela Perera.
“Our aim was to create modern and elegant designs that were anchored in the things that we love most about Doctor Who.”
Fans were quick to dissect the new logo, with many appearing to spot a hidden reference built within its letters.
The ‘H’ cuts into the ‘O’ of the final word, which appears to be a rotated Venus symbol, representing the female gender and Whittaker’s turn as the first ever woman to play the Doctor.
The thirteenth series of the show marks a major change for the long-running franchise, after Peter Capaldi bowed out at Christmas.
Bradley Walsh has recently been announced as the Doctor’s companion, Graham, alongside Mandip Gill as Yasmin and Tosin Cole as Ryan.
Viewers will have to wait until this Autumn to get a first glimpse of the Whittaker in action as the Doctor.
