Roxanne Pallett broke down in tears as she revealed that she’s “scared about the future” after becoming the “most hated girl in Britain”.

In an emotional interview on Monday’s Celebrity Big Brother, the former Emmerdale actress told Emma Willis that she felt “crippled with embarrassment” after claiming that Ryan Thomas punched her maliciously while in the house.

Pallett, whose allegations sparked 11,000 Ofcom complaints, maintained that she believed what she was saying while in the house and only realised that she was “wrong” after watching the footage back.

“Watching it feels like a completely different scenario to how it felt at the time,” she told Willis.

“How it felt when he did it, it hurt, I can’t prove a feeling. The more I thought about it it became heightened and I convinced myself he did that.

"The first thing I did when I got out was watch that and I immediately realised. I saw what ever single person saw and I don’t blame anyone for thinking why did she make light of it, joke it off. I’m more shocked at myself than anyone else out there is.

Probing the actress, Willis asked why she initially made light of the play-fight if she genuinely believed it to be an aggressive act at the time.

“I think about why I used humour when something hurt in my mind. That’s something I’ve asked myself, I’ve questioned that too. I think it was because I didn’t think he liked me and the feeling I had afterwards that I’d convinced myself it was done with malice and I know now it wasn’t.”

Pallett went on to say that she feels “devastated” and is “crippled with embarrassment and shame” that she put Thomas in that position.

Willis touched upon the fact that allegations of similar incidents had been made against her by co-stars on Twitter, to which Pallett looked shocked.

“I haven’t read any tweets, I don’t know. It’s devastating, no one wants to hear that from anyone, let alone someone you’ve worked with. Nobody could say anything to me that I haven’t said to myself.”

She added: “I’m the most hated girl in Britain right now, it’s a lot. It’s the title I feel everyone’s giving me at the moment, all I can do it own it accept it and take each day now. Like everybody that makes a mistake, I’ll just try.”

Last week's CBB incident sparked 11,000 complaints to Ofcom after the scenes were shown to viewers, prompting a fierce backlash against Pallett.

On Saturday, it was announced that she had walked away from the house.
