Gary Williams - At the Movies review: A trip down memory lane

Jane Cornwell8 September 2017

There are times when only good old-fashioned escapism will do, and this selection of movie tunes, sung with Sinatra-esque flair, will transport you down memory lane and get your serotonin levels soaring.

Here are the feelgood likes of How Deep is Your Love from Saturday Night Fever and Puppet on a String from the 1965 Elvis-flick Girl Happy, along with a gorgeous version of Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now, as featured in Love Actually.

An erstwhile soloist with big bands and concert orchestras, a star of the West End’s Rat Pack, Williams tackles all 15 tracks with understatement, wit and ease.

He plays Crazy Coqs, W1, on Thursday September 14.
