Phillip Schofield has hit back at “hilarious” Dancing on Ice ‘fix’ claims after fans vowed to boycott the show.

ITV was accused of fixing the public vote on who survives the skate off after they claimed Schofield told Collins she would be back the following week before the results had been announced.

“Well, we’ve got next week as well,” he said as Collins broke down in tears. “So you’ve got the whole week to build back up again.”

Viewers were convinced his comments proved the show is fixed, with one claiming they had reported the remark to broadcasting watchdog, Ofcom.

One tweeted: “I have put an official complaint to @ofcom on their website after @Schofe saying live on air that @missgemcollins would be skating next week. Voters have been ripped off if there has been a fix.”

Schofield hit back: “We say that to everyone! You are hilarious with your conspiracy theory. Voting is independently adjudicated. I only know the result as I say it.”

The viewer scolded him for appearing to find the claims “amusing” to which Schofield snapped: “Not amusing… hilarious. I said it to Gemma cos she was crying. Oh btw... it’s illegal to fix TV shows and I wouldn’t work on one that was.

“WE ARE INDEPENDENTLY ADJUDICATED!!! All votes are checked and agreed by an independent company.”

Collins made an emotional return to the ice on Sunday night after falling over during last week’s show. Her routine to Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do was criticised by the judges who scored her 13.5 points.

But despite finishing bottom of the leaderboard she swerved the skate off which saw Saira Khan given the boot over Ryan Sidebottom.
