Good Morning Britain viewers were left confused and slightly worried about a football jinx after the breakfast show wrongly claimed that England will play in the World Cup semi-final.
Producers made the blunder during an interview with retired footballer Graham Le Saux.
Eagle-eyed fans were both amused and apprehensive in equal measure when they spotted the ticker tape claim Saturday’s match will be the “first semi-final appearance since 1990”.
Viewers were quick to call the channel out on their error as they laughed on social media.
One wrote: “Is Saturday our first semi appearance??”
Another said: “@GMB I think you've got ahead of yourselves GMB we are not in the Semi finals (yet!).”
A third tweeted: “@GMB quarter final or semi final ? Maybe you know something we don’t? #EnglandvSweden #WorldCup2018 #FootballsComingHome.”
The error was quickly rectified as conversation moved to Kyle Walker’s now-famous cramp-killing pose.
Manchester City defender Walker was pictured stretching out cramp on the pitch while his teammates ran in celebration after their penalty shoot-out win against Colombia on Tuesday night.
England will take on Sweden on Samara, in south-western Russia, on Saturday afternoon with coverage live on the BBC from 2.30pm, half hour before kick-off.
