Great British Bake Off champion Candice Brown has revealed that the BBC baking show left her in “agony”.

Candice, 31 – who beat Andrew Smyth and Jane Beedle to win series seven – said her “body hurt” making fondant fancies during the semi-final showstopper round.

Speaking to the Loose Women panel about the most challenging aspect of the show she said: “The fondant fancies. I was in actual agony. [Mr Kipling] makes it look easy.

“They're these tiny little cakes with butter icing and you’ve got the fondant on top. They wanted like 36. I was in actual pain, my body hurt.

“They were asking ‘are you alright?’ I was like ‘no, who does this?’”

Candice was also asked about her lipstick, which, at times, became a bigger talking point than her bakes.

The PE teacher said she wore the colourful colours to avoid looking “rubbish” on TV.

Speaking to Kaye Adams, Janet Street-Porter, Linda Robson and Martine McCutcheon – who all wore make-up as a homage to Candice – she said: "I've always worn it.

“I wasn't going to go on TV looking like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards and obviously I wanted to wear make-up. I didn't want to look rubbish.”

Some 14 million fans tuned in to watch Candice take the crown Wednesday night, with a peak of 14.8 million viewers.

Speaking on her win, an overwhelmed Candice, said: “Never ever, ever thought I’d ever even get on this, and I’m standing here now with this.

“They said my name, and that means more to me than I think anyone will ever, ever realise. It really, really does.”
