'Susanna who?' Gemma Collins says she's Piers Morgan's 'new TV wife' as she joins Good Morning Britain

Gemma Collins joked that she could replace Susanna Reid as Piers Morgan’s new TV ‘wife’ as she made a special appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The Dancing on Ice hopeful appeared as a guest reporter on the ITV breakfast show after Morgan publicly pledged his support to her following a spat with judge Jason Gardiner last month.

Arriving on the show in a cloud of smoke to the tune of Destiny’s Child’s Survivor, the GC’s big entrance nearly backfired as the dry ice failed to clear, leaving Morgan joking that the team had “set fire to the entire studio.”

After discussing her lacklustre performance on last night’s show and addressing her feud with Gardiner, Collins presented Morgan with a banana inscribed with a special message.

Taking her cues from the Duchess of Sussex, who was photographed writing encouraging notes on bananas during a charity engagement last week, the GC marked the fruit with “I love Piers Morgan.”

The TOWIE star signed off from the show by informing viewers that she “hope[s] to be back very soon,” prompting Morgan to tell her: “I feel like I’ve got a new host.”

Collins was quick to suggest that she could be Morgan’s new presenting partner, telling him: “I’m the new wife – move over Susanna!”

“Susanna who?” Morgan then jokingly ask, while his usual co-host looked extremely perturbed.

“It’s all about the GC, baby,” Collins added.

Morgan later shared a photo of him and Collins, captioning it: “Move over Susanna, there’s a new dream team in town.”

Though the pair seemed to get on famously, some viewers were less than impressed by the new addition to the Good Morning Britain team, suggesting that Collins’ cameo had prompted them to “switch over” to watch Morgan’s BBC rivals.

“Didn’t even switch on today because of her. BBC gets my vote now,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Hence the reason I watched BBC1 this morning,” another added.

Others, however, were happy to see a new side to Collins’ personality. “Just seen @missgemcollins with @piersmorgan on @GMB and having a change of heart,” one viewer wrote.

“Not keen on the GC but I do like Gemma,” they added. “Saw a different person this morning. Please let’s see more Gemma and less GC.”

Discussing her feud with Gardiner, Collins admitted that she found the sharp-tongued judge “very amusing” and said that she does “agree with some of the comments he makes.”

“I think he does it to sort of get me going a bit but it also drives me on,” she continued. “The more his comments are awful about me, the more I think I’m going to come back and prove him wrong.”

Collins will perform on Sunday’s instalment of Dancing on Ice after narrowly avoiding the skate-off in last night’s show.
