A newly-released trailer for the second season of The Grand Tour shows the moments before Richard Hammond’s horrific car crash.

Launched exclusively on Amazon Prime, the teaser clip reveals the presenter grinning as he gets behind the wheel of a £2 million Rimac Concept for the new series of the motoring show.

Just moments later, Hammond’s car veered off the road and caught fire, leaving the 47-year-old injured and rushed straight to hospital.

The TV presenter was left with severe leg injuries after the accident and later apologised to his family from his hospital bed.

The trailer shows Hammond alongside co-presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May as they get to grips with the newest supercars and bikes.

Travelling to a series of far flung places, the trio can be seen stopping off in Switerland, Mozambique and slightly closer to home in the UK.

Speaking about the crash, Hammond recently told DriveTribe: “I was aware that I was up high, and that inevitably the car was going to come down.

“And yeah of course there was a moment of dread – ‘Oh God, I’m going to die’.

“I mean if you look at those craters, that’s a big hole that’s just impact and it looks like the thing has been dropped from space to leave a hole that big.”

He added: “So yeah I was probably going, ‘Well this is it’. In fact that is what was going through my mind. I thought, ‘I’ve had it’.”

The second season of The Grand Tour is expected to launch in November this year.
