Kevin Simm has become the winner of The Voice 2016 after beating Jolan, Lydia Lucy, and Cody Frost in the final.

The last episode of the show on the BBC saw the Team Ricky Wilson singer win after receiving the highest number of public votes.

Simm’s winner’s single, an original track called All You Good Friends, is available now.

The former Liberty X pop star sang Rihanna’s hit Stay in the final round, earning plaudits from the judges for his performance.

Ricky Wilson said Simm “showed us the passion, determination, and the belief that he can win the show” with his performance, while Will.I.Am told him his voice was “pretty super dope”.

Paloma Faith said: “I’ve been team Kevin since the beginning. What you just did was so exceptional, I feel like it was emotionally connected.”

After performing solo, he then sang The Killers - Mr Brightside with mentor Ricky Wilson.

Narrowly missing out was Jolan, also on Team Ricky Wilson, who found himself in the final two after a reveal in the middle of the show saw Lydia Lucy, of Team Will.I.Am, and Cody Frost, of Team Boy George, voted off.

Lydia was described by her Black Eyed Peas mentor as “the real deal”, with Will evidently shocked that she did not make it into the final two.

Having promised that he would perform a free concert in London if Lydia won, Will confirmed that the gig would still go ahead, and said that he would continue working with Lydia in the future.

Cody Frost’s performance of Mad World was called “beautiful” by both Boy George and Paloma Faith, but it wasn’t enough to keep her in the show.

However, it seems that Frost wasn’t a fan of the winners’ single according to mentor Boy George – so perhaps she won’t be too dismayed at not taking the top spot.

The Voice is due to move to ITV for 2017, with the new mentoring line-up currently unconfirmed.
