At the end of July Finsbury Square near Moorgate will be covered in 250 tonnes of sand as London Beach Rugby descends on the City once again.

Teams of five of all skill levels will battle it out across seven-minute games to crowned victors, with money raised going to this year's nominated charity the London Air Ambulance. Registration is open now for those keen to take on London's rugby enthusiasts.

Previous years have seen over 3000 people flock to Finsbury Square to support the fun event, whether watching or getting involved, and this year looks likely to be just as popular.

There will be plenty of action surrounding the pitch for those not caught up in a scrum. Drinks will be provided by Sharps Brewery from Cornwall, while a selection of food stalls will include Sugar Dumplin, serving Caribbean cuisine.

An after party on the beach will also be held, allowing everyone to feel the sand between their toes and embrace the summer vibe with the help of some rum and live music. What the weather thinks of that plan is, of course, unconfirmed.

London’s Beach Rugby tournament takes place on July 29 and 30 in Finsbury Square. To find out more visit londonbeachrugby.com.
