Number 90 - bar review

A cool new all-day drinking spot in Hackney Wick from the Half Baked boys, says Kate Lough
Kate Lough26 June 2015

What they say: a new canalside (actually it’s the River Lea) bar/restaurant/party venue in Hackney Wick from the pair behind Half Baked, the legendary Sunday parties.

What we say: this is the kind of place where people walk in and say: “Ooh this is cool.” Lots of seating, art all over the walls and great potential for waterside drinking. They also put on live music, film nights and tasty food from their Brazilian chef, who’s so dedicated to meat he has 'pork' and 'beef' tattooed onto his knuckles.

Good for: all-day Sunday drinking (rain or shine) — and they’ve got their own boat you can sit on.

Order: thyme for another: a refreshing herby cocktail made with thyme-infused gin, grapefruit, cider syrup and fresh mint served up in a jam jar.

By the way: they’re working on a rooftop space and a breakfast menu.

Find it: Main Yard Studios, 90 Wallis Road, E9; 90mainyard.co.uk.
