Mulligan's of Mayfair

10 April 2012

This review was first published in November 2000

At Mulligan's you can have Irish stew and it will be served with red cabbage, a combination which is described on the menu as being 'traditional'. Red cabbage is certainly a traditional accompaniment to Lancashire hot pot, but opinions are divided as to whether it was originally a Celtic foible. Whatever the provenance may be, the sharp crispness of the cabbage makes a grand partner to the soft richness of the melting lamb.
