Best for cocktails: Lobster

At this Hackney lobster bar you can have a classic lobster roll, a whole lobster, a bowl of lobster tortelloni or even lobster Benedict (from £12), but the menu does feature other dishes beyond crustacea.

The paired cocktails are crackers, too — try a Sea Julep (Pisco, Cinzano Bianco and lime juice, £8.50).

Best for classics: Piquet

Chef Allan Pickett is on a mission to meld British ingredients with classic — mostly French — cooking techniques and the results are delicious. The menu changes all the time, but expect dishes such as pithivier of Littlebourne snails, cured coppa ham from Kent, or half a native lobster in garlicky broth (starters from £7, mains from £15).

Best for seafood feasts: Wright Brothers South

The latest opening from seafood specialists the Wright Brothers is a smaller, more romantic spot than their Soho or Spitalfields restaurants. Start your meal with oysters before moving on to a bowl of fish soup, or a starter of moules marinière, then half a lobster drenched in butter (£21).
