The California house where the Duchess of Sussex lived while forging her Hollywood career is on sale for about £1.5 million.

The four-bedroom colonial-style home in the exclusive Hancock Park district went on the market last week for $1,799,000.

At 2,260sq ft and built in 1924, it is described as a “charmer with so much sunshine” and an open floor plan downstairs.

Perched in an “amazing central location” it is a far cry from the secluded Grade II-listed Frogmore Cottage in Windsor where Meghan, 38, now lives with Prince Harry, 34, and their baby son Archie.

According to US reports, the duchess lived in the house with her then-husband Trevor Engelson, a producer, between 2011 and 2013 but spent much of her time in Toronto filming Suits.

When they separated, she moved to Canada before meeting Harry in 2016.

The house is not far from the area of Los Angeles where Meghan grew up, and is close to the home of her mother, Doria Ragland.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the duke and duchess were keen to buy a second home in Los Angeles, with a source saying: “Hollywood was in her DNA”.

Meghan’s three-bed Toronto home, where she lived in the early stages of her relationship with Harry, went on the market in December 2017. It sold for $1.6 million (£1.3 million).
