'Archer used me as wage slave'

Disgraced millionaire author Lord Archer has been accused by a former jail inmate of treating him as a "wage slave" by paying him less than £1 an hour to help with his prison diaries.

Convicted thief Darren Cheffins, 32, claims he was given only £100 for using his computer expertise to design artwork. It took him 120 hours, he said, to complete graphics for seven pages.

The former Tory Party deputy chairman is said to have boasted of the millions he would make from recounting his prison experiences.
