BA set to axe 3,000 jobs

BRITISH Airways is due to announce plans tomorrow to make further £300m annual savings, including cutting more than 3,000 jobs through natural wastage. Cabin crew posts will not be cut.

Trade unions have refused to rule out industrial action if BA proceeds with its job cutting plans.

Union leaders warned BA against losing jobs among check-in and ticket staff, saying the departments had already been 'cut to the bone'.

They said staff reductions would be 'resisted' but declined to spell out details of any action.
