Big jobs boost for Port of London

THOUSANDS of jobs are set to be created under plans to expand the Port of London, it was announced today. An agreement was signed with the Port Authority of Thailand which is expected to increase shipping between the two countries.

The Port of London said it expected to become the UK's biggest container facility under long term expansion plans.

Simon Sherrard, chairman of the Port of London Authority, said: 'South East Asia is an important trading partner for the UK and Europe, both in raw materials and manufactured goods.

'By entering into this new agreement we believe that the prospects for both ports to gain an increased share of the volumes will be enhanced.'
