Chelsea Harbour plans thrown out

Two huge riverside schemes which caused uproar in the celebrity enclave of Chelsea Harbour have been thrown out by Hammersmith and Fulham council.

Neighbours including Sir Ralph Halpern, Sally Burton and Vestey heiress Julia Stephenson had objected strongly to the extra traffic that the proposals would have brought to an area which has almost no public transport.

The two schemes would have meant nearly 750 extra apartments in the area, where there is already permission for a £1billion development of 1,600 flats.
