A cinema lying derelict is finally to be redeveloped after a council ultimatum to its owners.

All that was left of the Thirties-era Empire Cinema in Ealing was eight black columns as its facade.

Now the chain has full planning permission and work will begin on a £25 million, 20-screen complex. Empire Cinemas was put on notice by the council last year to build or risk losing the site.
