1 May 2012

Cocteau Twins singer Elizabeth Fraser is to give her first full shows since leaving the band 15 years ago in the Meltdown Festival, curated by Antony and the Johnsons frontman Antony Hegarty.

The Scottish singer, 48, below, will join Eighties star Marc Almond, Canadian Cree Indian singer Buffy Sainte Marie, Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovic and New York drag queen Joey Arias on the bill.

Meltdown at the Southbank Centre has been moved from June this year, running from August 1 to 12 as part of the London 2012 Festival. Antony said: “I dreamed of assembling a constellation of courageous artists, all of whom have used their platforms as cultural producers to challenge us.”
