Compass in £42m Silverstone deal

12 April 2012

FOOD service giant Compass has agreed a £42.5m deal to provide catering services at Silverstone and a number of racecourses.

The group's Letheby & Christopher division will provide daily conference and banqueting services at Silverstone, in Northamptonshire, as well as catering for the hospitality needs of the Grand Prix and other major events.

It has also agreed a deal to provide catering and hospitality services at Arena Leisure's all-weather tracks at Lingfield Park, Wolverhampton and Southwell, along with Folkestone and Worcester racecourses, as well as continuing its contract at Royal Windsor racecourse.

The Silverstone deal is for three years and worth £15m in turnover, while the Arena agreement is for five years and worth £27.5m.

Peter Righini, managing director of Compass' leisure division, said: 'Many consider Britain to be the capital of motorsport in the world, while horse racing is fast becoming one of the most widely enjoyed sports in the UK, so it is essential that these venues have a catering service that can match their high profile.'

Compass is based in Chertsey, Surrey.
