David Tennant’s Richard II is at a cinema near you

David Tennant’s performance as Richard II is to be broadcast live in cinemas and streamed to schools online.

All advance tickets for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production that opens in Stratford-upon-Avon in October and then moves to the Barbican have been snapped up. But it will be filmed at Stratford on November 13 and simultaneously screened in 100 British cinemas. It will also be seen in North America, Australia, Japan and Europe and will be streamed to 1,000 schools in the UK.

Gregory Doran, the RSC’s artistic director, said: “We want to bring the work we make to the widest possible audience.”
