Drained, 14 July - engineers had to drain it to fix a pump, again because of leaves.

Cleaning, 19 July - announcement it would be shut once a week for cleaning.

Injuries, 22 July - three visitors had to go to hospital after slipping while paddling. As a result, the fountain was shut for the school holidays.

Fence, 20 July - a 7ft fence was put up around the fountain during the closure. It was originally accessible all around but now has one entrance.

Algae, 27 July - green, slippery algae formed on the granite. Experts said it was a "fundamental flaw" in the design of the Diana memorial.

Ban, 11 August - people banned from paddling.

Roughening, 17 August - the granite surface was "roughened" to stop people slipping.

Leak, 20 August - leak discovered and fixed while fountain closed to the public.

Security, 20 August - stewards and CCTV introduced. By October there would be more guards than public.

Mud, 23 August - mudbath formed round fountain, which became inaccessible. One woman fell and hurt herself. Paving planned.

Danger, 29 November - plans to install metal bars under the bridges for fear of children falling under and being trapped.
