Father appeals to hit-and-run driver

A father has made an emotional appeal for the hit-and-run driver who killed his 11-year-old son to come forward.

Richie McDonagh was killed at about 7.20pm on Saturday 29 November on the North Circular in Neasden. He was using a crossing near a McDonald's and Ikea when a BMW hit him.

The car failed to stop and in the confusion a second car ran over Richie. The second driver stayed at the scene.

Detectives believe the BMW driver may have been en route to the north of England on the M1 and officers have been sent to Scotland.

Richie died at the Royal Free Hospital. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.

His father, Martin, 41, said: "It's unbelievable it's been all these weeks and the driver still hasn't given himself up. He needs to search his soul and hand himself in. Or if anyone who knows them, they must come forward."

The BMW may be a light-coloured "old-style" model, possibly a 3 or 5 Series.
