Place to be: the app reveals the "coolest" venues favoured by trend-setters, such as Claridge’s, which Kate Moss visits

It is already known as the coolest style magazine - now it has issued an eletronic guide to the ultimate cool London day.

Wallpaper magazine has drawn up a dawn-to-midnight tour of the capital's spots to be seen in the form of an iPhone application.

The perfect day for poseurs starts with breakfast at the Automat brasserie in Mayfair, before a visit to the Serpentine Gallery, lunch at Cecconi's behind the Royal Academy, a walk on Hampstead Heath, concluding with sunset on Primrose Hill and a visit to The Engineer gastropub.

The app also points out buildings of architectural interest and recommends places to visit, from landmarks such as Lord's cricket ground to the less familiar Laban contemporary dance centre in Deptford.

Buildings noted for their architecture include the mid-20th-century Economist Building, an American-style tower and plaza by Alison and Peter Smithson in St James's Street.

It flags up that the Grade I-listed Royal College of Physicians building in Regent's Park, which was built to a modernist design by Sir Denys Lasdun, also famous for the National Theatre.

Thumbnail reviews advise visitors that west London is "stucco central", the City "largely deserted" at night, and the south-west of the capital is the place to go "if you're looking to snare a Russian oligarch or an Arab prince".

The capital is one of 10 cities on offer as a £2.39 app along with Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Milan, Rome and Tokyo.

Neil Sumner, digital director of Phaidon, which produced the apps, said they were a "natural progression" for the Wallpaper City Guide book series.

He added: "The pocketsize format, tightly edited content and menu system complemented the development of the iPhone and iPod touch."
