It ain't half hot in London as summer makes a return
Londoners will enjoy "exceptionally warm days" until early next week as the late September heatwave continues.
Temperatures in the capital are forecast to reach 27C today and 28C tomorrow when warm southerly winds arrive from central Europe.
The unseasonably warm weather will continue through the weekend, giving dry, sunny days across the South-East - and the heat will continue long into the evenings, making the nights warmer than is normal during the day in September.
Cooler air from the Atlantic will bring the temperature back down by Monday or Tuesday.
Met Office deputy chief forecaster Paul Gundersen said: "We'll see maximum temperatures around 10 degrees above normal for late September, reaching 25C to 27C typically and possibly even nudging 28C on Saturday. So for England and Wales it's staying very warm through to at least Saturday, possibly Sunday and during the early part of next week."
Londoners are enjoying the weather. Anita Foglio, 35, from Notting Hill, said: "I'm absolutely loving it. I'm going to make a nice dinner for my husband and I to eat outside tonight. My son has an art class this afternoon, but I think we will skip it and just have fun outside!"
Joanna Zach, 28, from Greenwich, said: "I'm working later today, so I've come to the park to make the most of the weather. There wasn't that much sun this summer so this is great."
Elise Purchas, 31, who works in Kensington, said: "I'm going to get out to the park as much as possible.
"I have no complaints about the weather in the UK. Where I am from in America, the weather is a lot worse. People shouldn't be so mean about the summers here."
