The 10-year-old granddaughter of Motown legend Jimmy Ruffin has been snapped up by a US music producer after recording a single to raise funds for Japanese earthquake victims.

Aiyana-Lee Anderson, who lives with her mother in Kingsbury, north London, became an internet sensation after she recorded As One for a campaign to raise money.

Now she is set to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather - best known for the hit What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted? - after LA producer Michael Jay offered her the chance to record an album. Mr Jay has worked with Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue and Eminem.

As One was written by Aiyana-Lee's mother Nicole Anderson, an established songwriter. Aiyana-Lee, who has studied at Sylvia Young Theatre School, said: "I am excited about Michael Jay but right now I love this song and I love the fact that I can help children in Japan."
