Kate feels the price of fame

Three days ago it was Russell Crowe who was unable to control his temper. Now it's Kate Winslet's turn to find the pressure of being a celebrity is sometimes just too much.

She was all smiles as she left Heathrow with 17-month-old daughter Mia in a baby-carrier on her back, but her expression hardened when she landed in Los Angeles and photographers started taking pictures of Mia.

Ms Winslet, 26, told them: "I don't mind you taking pictures of me, but please stay away from my daughter." When one photographer followed her into the parking lot, she snapped: "Look, I've tried to be nice, but would you just back the f*** off now." Then she ran to a waiting car and was driven off.

Russell Crowe pinned a TV executive against a wall at Sundays' Bafta awards dinner because a poem he recited in his Best Actor acceptance speech was cut from the BBC's broadcast.
