Killer driver who taunted victim's family in court again

12 April 2012

Killer driver who made gun gestures towards his victim's grieving relatives outside court has admitted a new dangerous driving charge.

Mudassar Khan was 17 when he hit Javid Ashgar, 48, who was crossing the road. Taxi driver Mr Ashgar was catapulted into the air and died immediately after the collision near Ilford in February last year.

Khan, now 18, of Ilford, left without calling for help and only returned after hiding the number plates from his silver Peugeot 206. In July this year he was sentenced to six months' youth custody for causing death by careless driving. When friends and family of Mr Ashgar confronted Khan outside court to demand an apology, he shaped the fingers of his right hand into a gun and pointed it at them.

Today at Snaresbrook crown court he admitted a charge of dangerous driving - committed on May 24 this year while on bail for causing Mr Ashgar's death. He also admitted two charges of possessing class A drugs.

Judge Timothy King adjourned sentencing until November 8.
