Man faces court after woman found dead

A man will appear before magistrates today charged with the death of a woman found strangled in her home.

Police launched a murder inquiry after Deborah Wilkes was discovered dead at the address where she lived, on Shirley Street, in Leek, Staffordshire, on Sunday.

Leslie Andrew Stubbs, 51, was charged with the 49-year-old's death.

A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Wilkes died as a result of strangulation.

Stubbs is due to appear before magistrates in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.
