Mayor Boris Johnson and new leader were at same infant school

They have ended up at opposite ends of the political spectrum, but today it emerged that Labour leader Ed Miliband and Tory Mayor Boris Johnson went to the same London infant school.

The Miliband brothers attended Primrose Hill primary in north London at about the same time as Mr Johnson and his sister Rachel, an author and journalist.

David Miliband was in the same class as film director Sam Mendes and author Zoë Heller.

In a newspaper article today, Mr Johnson wrote: "I attended the same Camden primary school as the new Labour leader Ed Miliband - and what a fantastic place I remember it to be."

He added: "It is an unsettling fact that I went to the same school as the party leader. Indeed, there are some people who have taken to complaining about this coincidence. They say it is unacceptable in the 21st century that so much political power should be concentrated in the old boys of one educational establishment."
