The headlines this week have been dominated by the furore surrounding the departure of spin doctors Jo Moore and Martin Sixsmith from the Department of Transport.

It has brought into the spotlight the tortured relationship between ministers, departments, and the press officers who claim they are bullied by New Labour.

But, says Andy Wood - who was forced out of his position at the Northern Ireland office - it's a sad fact of modern politics, and Sixsmith is just the latest casualty in a spin war.
