Missing tycoon found dead

Concern: Amarjit Chohan with his wife Nancy and eldest son Devinder

Missing millionaire Amarjit Chohan has been found floating dead in the sea, sparking fears that he may have been murdered.

Police identified the body of the Hounslow businessman last night after it was found near Bournemouth pier. He went missing with his entire family more than two months ago.

Today police said the discovery had made them seriously concerned about his wife, Nancy, 25, their two sons, Ravinder, three months, and Devinder, 18 months, and Mrs Chohan's mother Charanjit Kaur, 51.

The family were last seen at their home in Hounslow on 16 February and relatives and friends have not heard from them since.

At first, their disappearance was treated by police as a missing persons inquiry but Scotland Yard launched a more serious investigation amid increasing anxiety about their safety.

The body of Mr Chohan, who was also known as Neil, was found floating close to Bournemouth pier by canoeists on 22 April but could not be identified until yesterday.

It is believed the body had been in the sea for several weeks.

Post mortem tests have so far been unable to establish the cause of death but police think Mr Chohan may have been murdered by one of Britain's top crime families.
