Morrison bosses sell up

12 April 2012

AFTER months of increasing sales and a climbing share price, some directors have taken profits at supermarket group William Morrison.

Chairman Sir Ken Morrison, finance director Martin Ackroyd and property director Roger Owen last week sold 225,000 shares for £485,145.

Sir Ken has built a £1.3bn fortune from the business that he inherited in the Fifties, but he also has a knack for short-term profit-making. As the shares fell in December, he stepped in to pick up 121,000 for £235,950.
