Tragic: Rolls Say, 10, and sister Regina, eight, were found dead after going away for a weekend visit to their father’s flat in Southwark
12 April 2012

THE mother of two children allegedly murdered by their father during a weekend visit today spoke of her grief for the first time.

Adjoua Say broke down in tears saying "my children, my children. It is too horrible", as she told of her devastation at the deaths of her son Rolls, 10, and daughter Regina, eight.

The siblings were found stabbed to death at the Southwark flat of her ex-husband Jean Francis Say on Sunday.

He was arrested at the property after allegedly phoning Mrs Say and telling her to call the police because the children were dead.

Mrs Say, known to her friends as Antoinette, told the Standard the pain of her loss was almost unbearable.

In tears, she said: "What can I say? It is too horrible.

"It is such a shock, I can't say anymore right now - it is too hard."

Mrs Say, 44, moved to a flat in north London after separating from her husband. She was granted custody of the couple's two children with her ex-husband allowed weekend visitation rights.

The couple, from the Ivory Coast, married in 1998, but Mrs Say is understood to have moved out six months ago to Holloway after their marriage failed. Friends said she had not slept since being alerted to the tragedy on Sunday morning.

She was today being comforted by family members while her ex-husband was said to be on suicide watch after threatening to harm himself.

Mrs Say's cousin Yolanda said: "Antoinette is very upset, she is distraught. She has not slept. She is consumed with grief."

Met officers were called to the block of flats near Borough Market at about 8.15am on Sunday. The case is being investigated by detectives from the Child Abuse Investigation Command.

Mr Say, a 61-year-old retired concierge, was due to appear at the Old Bailey today after being remanded in custody charged with their murders.
