New Apple shows the way

Kieran Meeke12 April 2012

Apple continues to lead the way in computer design with the launch of its new iMac. Designed round a flat 15in LCD flatscreen, mounted on an 11in pod, this is probably how every home computer will look in a few years.

It features an 800MHX processor, two FireWire and five USB ports which allow you to harness that power to digital devices such as cameras, MP3 players and printers.

There's a built-in 56k modem (and Ethernet for you network gamers) but you can also fit the wireless AirPort card. An option is Apple's new DVD-R/CD-RW Superdrive, allowing you to burn your own DVDs and CDs.

From £1,149 to £1,599 for the Superdrive model with Pro speakers, the only disappointed punters we expect with are the poor fools (such as myself) who've just bought another computer.
